 Human Rights Day, observed on December 10th, celebrates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, which ensures dignity, equality, and justice for all people. This day reminds us of the importance of defending human rights globally, especially for vulnerable groups. The Girl Child Movement Botswana supports Human Rights Day by advocating for equal rights for girls, promoting gender equality, and fighting against discrimination. It's a day to reflect on progress and renew our commitment to creating a world where everyone’s rights are respected and upheld.

  I am a girl child, hear my plea, A soul of light, yearning to be free. From shadows dark, I seek the sun, A safe world where my life's begun. Protect my heart, shield my mind from abuse and fear, be gentle, be kind. Stakeholders RISE,TAKE A STAND ,build safe spaces, stretch your hand. My innocence  is my crown to wear, I deserve a life, a world that  cares. Help me escape the stranger's snare, fight for my rights, show me you are  there For I am a girl child, a future so bright, I deserve freedom ,joy and the right  to fight JOIN GIRL CHILD MOVEMENT BOTSWANA-Together we can create a world where every girl is safe ,free and empowered.

  In Botswana, gender-based violence remains a significant issue. In 2022, over 4,500 women were raped, marking a 400-case increase from the previous year. Between January and March 2023, 617 rape cases and 469 defilement cases were reported. These alarming statistics highlight the urgent need for action to protect women and girls in the country. The message is clear: "STOP KILLING US." ✋🏽💔 It's time we all stand together to end the violence and injustice faced by girls. 💪🏽👧🏽 As the Girl Child Movement Botswana, we call on everyone to join hands in solidarity to protect and empower our girls. 💖 Let’s work together to create a safer and brighter future for them. 🌟 Together, we can make a difference
